I was so sad that the last episode of Drag Race was last night. That means like 8 months until the next season, if we're lucky. No more drag queens means a very sad Josh. But something happened, something AMAZING. <div><br /></div><div>RUPAUL'S DRAG U!!!!</div><div><br /></div><div>I don't know what the hell it is, but I'm all for it. The fact also that it's all the queens we've grown to love. Ongina, Pandora, JuJuBee and NINA!!! I seriously might be more excited for this than the next season of Drag Race. Now the dog days of summer look a little more gay, and I'm all for it. </div><div><br /></div><div>Promo vid from LOGO below. </div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:Arial, sans-serif;font-size:6;color:#FFFFFF;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: 21px; line-height: 23px;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:Georgia, serif;font-size:130%;color:#000000;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: 16px; line-height: normal;"><br /></span></span></span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:Arial, sans-serif;font-size:6;color:#FFFFFF;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: 21px; line-height: 23px;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:Georgia, serif;font-size:130%;color:#000000;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: 16px; line-height: normal;"><div><embed src="http://media.mtvnservices.com/mgid:uma:video:logoonline.com:508071" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="window" width="425" height="354" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="configParams=logovideo%3Dtrue%26vid%3Dnull%26autoPlay%3Dfalse&allowFullScreen=true&hasContinuousPlay=false" allowscriptaccess="never" base="."></embed></div><div><div style="margin:0;text-align:center;width:425px;font-family:Arial,sans-serif;font-size:12px;">Watch <a href="http://www.logotv.com/" style="color:#439CD8;" target="_blank">Gay Video & Lesbian Movies</a> </div></div></span></span></span></span></div>bigfunnygayhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16417067120898853897noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7818230865290985648.post-32895660604308153522010-04-22T21:07:00.001-07:002010-04-22T22:01:31.842-07:00There's Madonna in my Glee!<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://assets.gearlive.com/music/blogimages/glee_madonna.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 375px; height: 375px;" src="http://assets.gearlive.com/music/blogimages/glee_madonna.jpg" border="0" alt="" /></a><br /><div><br /></div>Now some people may say, why make a whole episode of Glee about Madonna?? And to those people I would like to say: Get out of your pickups with your Rebel Flags on the back and open your years! Oh and stop beating up gays that is sooo 90s. I'm going to make this post as simple as possible. What I liked and what I didn't like. Yes, I did not find the episode to be perfect, but it was really good. Better than last weeks for sure. <div><br /></div><div>What I Disliked: Let's get the the bad stuff out of the way so we can end on a high note. Number one yet again is Finn. I don't like Finn no matter how hard I try. He is boring...oh so boring. Also I don't like his voice, it's whinny. Sorry to the Finn fanatics out there, but he is my least favorite character. And in this episode he butchered my favorite Madge song "Open Your Heart". I don't think I can forgive him after that. Please replace him with Johnathan Groff, I'm begging you Glee gods. </div><div><br /></div><div>The only other thing I disliked was the whole Sue Sylvester LOVES Madonna storyline, it seemed really forced. It wasn't believable, because there was no strong reasoning. In the episode where we find out Sue's sister has downs syndrome and thats why she was hard on the girl trying out; THAT was believable. If there was a quick back story as to why Sue LOVED Madonna it might have worked better. </div><div><br /></div><div>What I Liked!: The music obviously. They really made Madonna's music fit. And the whole environment in school where everyone was dressed like her was cute and worked. </div><div><br /></div><div>I LOVED that Kurt and Mercedes got the spotlight this time!! There are my favorites so it made me smile. The line Kurt said to Sue "We make culture" was just true! They made the right song choice for them and it really was the best performance in the whole episode. </div><div><br /></div><div>I liked the "Like a Virgin" part, cause with Madonna you need some sex. </div><div><br /></div><div>I loved that we got to see more of Tina, cause we should see ALOT more of her. She's got comedic timing, give her some damn lines! </div><div><br /></div><div>And as always Miss Sue Sylvester rocked everyones comedic panties off. Jane Lynch cannot get enough praise from me. I've loved her for years, and it seems like that once in a lifetime phenomenon where the perfect part is given to the perfect actress happened. Her timing is impeccable, and she has now been placed beside my all time favorite comedic actress, Bea Arthur. Jane Lynch should be getting a truck load of Emmys for this part. </div><div><br /></div><div>I have to say the lack of Quinn has been a good thing, cause it was Quinn pregnant overload before. I would like to see her character blossom more this season and for her to become a person rather than a preggo teen caricature. </div><div><br /></div><div>So all in all it was a great episode. And they truly did justice to Madonna's lifetime of work. </div><div><br /></div>bigfunnygayhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16417067120898853897noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7818230865290985648.post-41231425569467505752010-04-20T16:10:00.000-07:002010-04-20T16:20:22.774-07:00Neil Patrick Harris, GAY HERO!I love NPH. The Madonna Episode of Glee is tonight!! Will definitely be making a post after it!bigfunnygayhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16417067120898853897noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7818230865290985648.post-17434266553582970812010-04-19T23:36:00.000-07:002010-04-19T23:52:36.667-07:00Oh David....So anyone remember David Archuleta? Had one hit song after Idol. Anyone? Thought so. <div><br /></div><div>I really don't care much about this young Idol castoff myself. But there is one thing that I always wondered. Is he gay? Cause have you seen him...he's probably gay. I won't say positively, but let's just say him and Ricky Martin careers seem to have some thing in common. </div><div><br /></div><div>But the reason I bring him up is because he was seen in a gay club last night. *GASP! Shock!* Well he tweeted that it "wasn't his kind of place" and he should of asked where he was going before hand. </div><div><br /></div><div>This of course pissed of the gays. Which I know is kind of ridiculous, but when your beat down by your own government everyday, you tend to get on edge. </div><div><br /></div><div>Then the tweeted (I love the fact that all this was tweeted! New ways for celebs to get into trouble.) that he didn't mean that because it was a gay club, but because he does not like the "party scene". </div><div><br /></div><div>Now you can take this two ways, one is that he's a homophob and was trying to cover his tracks. Which I'm almost 100% sure is not the case. </div><div><br /></div><div>OR</div><div><br /></div><div>He was in a gay club, spotted in said gay club, freaked out cause he is in the closet, and tweeted without thinking.</div><div><br /></div><div>Hey gays, remember when you were in high school, and in the closet, and you thought someone might get too close to finding out so you OVERCOMPENSATED. You either said you hated gay people or man whored it up with some over eager girl. </div><div><br /></div><div>And no Mr. Archuleta I did not point any of that in your direction at all. Even though I've seen you on tape and know just like the rest of America what you are...Allegedly. </div><div><br /></div><div>Here is a sight with all the details if ya'all wish to pursue: <a href="http://greginhollywood.com/david-archuleta-sets-the-record-straight-26066">http://greginhollywood.com/david-archuleta-sets-the-record-straight-26066</a></div>bigfunnygayhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16417067120898853897noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7818230865290985648.post-10051819273530265872010-04-19T15:04:00.000-07:002010-04-19T15:07:38.909-07:00Multi tasking. Hailing from the island of Britain, she has done something that I really wasn't expecting. She has created something different. Not Lady Gaga different, where you put a new sheen on something that we've heard before. My dear Florence has actually taken many different genres and fused them to best suite her voice. Which in my humble opinion is what being a true artist of music does. Much like Amy Winehouse, really though we all know that was alot of Mark Ronson's doing. But Florence writes her own music, and also collaborates with many other musicians that she says knows her and her process (hence the machine). Listen below, I like and hope you do too. This is my favorite song off the album. <div><br /></div><div><object width="560" height="340"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/4sfwYGaGVmM&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/4sfwYGaGVmM&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="560" height="340"></embed></object></div>bigfunnygayhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16417067120898853897noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7818230865290985648.post-88866222094402007512010-01-19T18:16:00.000-08:002010-01-19T20:28:42.733-08:00Let's Start Again, with some Vampire Slaying!<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://skwigg.tripod.com/blog/173745__buffy_l.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 470px;" src="http://skwigg.tripod.com/blog/173745__buffy_l.jpg" border="0" alt="" /></a><br />It's 2010 and I feel like the time to start my blog up again is nigh. In this first blog of the new year, it will be almost a retrospect, but really not. It will blow your mind (probably not, but lets pretend). I'm going to talk about one of the most important things of my high school life, but also something that I get to enjoy every month in print comic form. That's right noble gay geek readers, its <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buffyverse">BUFFY</a>!!! <div><br /></div><div>Now for all that maybe lived under a rock in the late 1990s to early 2000s, Buffy was all the rage. It was a show that was about, yes vampire slaying, but really more so about the relationships that Buffy and her best friends (nicknamed "The Scoobies") had with one another. </div><div><br /></div><div>During the course of it's 7 year run, Buffy died twice, Angel died once, Spike became a goody goody, and Willow blossomed into a lesbian. All this is so much more than I think I have seen any show ever do; especially on the "character becoming gay" storyline. It was the first, and it did it well. Willow coming out of the closet, for me personally, was the biggest TV moment of my teen years. More on that later in the post. </div><div><br /></div><div>Buffy is something that I can watch over and OVER again. Joss Whedon, the show's creator for those rock people, is someone that I would follow to Neverland if he asked me to. He seems to always create worlds, not just in Buffy, that come to life and make you want to invest. He has his finger on my geek pulse, and I'm better for it. I suggest if this post makes you want to watch Buffy again or for the first time you also check out Whedon's other works: Firefly and Dollhouse. </div><div><br /></div><div>I wanted to go over my favorite parts of Buffy with a LIST!! I don't know why I haven't done lists in past blogs, cause I love them. Countdowns are my favorite! So here we go...!</div><div><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><b>Favorite Things from the Buffyverse</b> </div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;">10. The Bevy of Killed Off Characters </div><div style="text-align: left;">Now Buffy was known for kicking some Vampire ass, but it was also known for killing lots and lots of people. Remember Jenny Calender, Angel did her in when he went all bloodlusty. Larry is another, oh poor Larry, he was gay and got killed by the Mayor. And my last favorite was Kendra, the African American, ultra hip slayer that was a good foil to miss whitey prom queeny Buffy. She was like Buffy but with more edge. Sadly Drusilla gets the best of her, which was really weak and a total let down, btw! Getting killed by hypnotism...quite anticlimactic. </div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;">9. The Episode "Hush" </div><div style="text-align: left;">This is the best stand alone episode of Buffy, ever. It centers around demons named <a href="http://www.bbc.co.uk/cult/buffy/gallery/season4/images/340/17hush.jpg">The Gentlemen</a> who steal your voice then cut out your heart. Intense is the least you can say about this episode. Willow running around trying to yell for help but can't with the Gentlemen right behind her, classic. Plus the Gentlemen might be the scariest looking of all the Buffy baddies. </div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;">8. The Musical Episode "Once More with Feeling"</div><div style="text-align: left;">Joss Whedon started something copied by many other shows, the musical episode. A demon is conjured that makes everyone sing what they feel. Its funny, the music is downright addictive, and there is even a major plot point of that season at the end. Its a great episode and I think that everyone should see it, Buffy fan or not. </div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;">7. The End of Season 6 and <a href="http://www.buffyccg.com/downloads/DreamCards/DarkWillow/DarkWillowLevel3.jpg">Dark Willow</a></div><div style="text-align: left;">HOLY SHIT!! That sums up the end of season 6 for me. Tara being shot and killed and Willow going all veiny and evil. It is something that I can't fully explain because it this the end of the season and it's like the lid flying off a pot of boiling water. I also love it because story wise it was a point that the characters could never come back from. They had crossed lines that they couldn't uncross, and it made the next season that much better. </div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;">6. Buffy's Boyfriends</div><div style="text-align: left;">A nice part for the ladies, and men who don't like ladies that way are the parade of men that Buffy let ravish her. My personal favorite was <a href="http://media.comicvine.com/uploads/2/26098/836895-400_super.jpg">Riley</a>, he was the college Abercrombie hunk and had that whole military thing too. Angel was sensitive and Spike was a bad boy, but they still didn't beat Riley. Trust me when I say there might be a notebook of mine with his name written all over it. </div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;">5. The incarnation of Dawn Summers</div><div style="text-align: left;">Alot of Buffy fans would disagree with me on this one, but I think that Dawn brought a shift to Buffy's character that she needed. Buffy was always more or less concerned with Buffy, but Dawn brought her into a more mature and parental light. I also love how when they brought her onto the show Whedon did it in a way that we all had no clue what was going on. I thought it was genius how everyone knew who Dawn was except the audience and then he turned it around during the course of the season. It was incredibly engaging to be a part of. </div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;">4. <a href="http://listings.ironictiming.com/willdrew/layout2.png">Andrew Wells</a></div><div style="text-align: left;">Oh my dear and lovely Andrew. He tried to kill Buffy and the Scooby Gang which lead to Tara's ultimate death, but Andrew's true stride in the series was when he became a part of the gang in season 7. He is the comic relief of the season, but he does it so well that I welcomed it with full heart. Plus he's most likely gay, but has no clue which just adds to his fun character. </div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;">3. Faith's Redemption</div><div style="text-align: left;">Now I love Buffy, but if I had to pick a slayer to go on a cruise with it would most definitely be Faith. I loved how Faith was always a very complicated character. She always wanted to do the right thing but never had faith in herself (get the irony...oh Whedon). She always feel short and help the evil in Sunnydale because of all her issues. However the greatest thing Whedon ever did with Faith was turn her force powers to the light side. She finally became the slayer she was suppose to. It was something I wanted to see from first meeting the character of Faith, and I thank you for that Joss. </div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;">2. <a href="http://www.ugo.com/images/galleries/hiptobesquare_filmtv/willow-rosenberg.jpg">Willow</a></div><div style="text-align: left;">If you know me and see that Willow is number 2 you might be a little shocked. Willow Rosenberg will always be my favorite part of Buffy. Her character wins the most changed award of the series. I also love that she wears her emotions on her sleeve cause I personally identify with that. She wasn't the prom queen and wasn't the most confident, but in the end she became the most powerful of the Scooby Gang even more than Buffy herself. And as I said before, the gay thing was handled with the most class than any other TV series I have ever seen. Willow rocks my socks period. </div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;">1. The creation of Season 8 </div><div style="text-align: left;">The best thing about Buffy is that it lives on in comics. Written and overseen by Joss Whedon himself. So far season 8 has been great with a slight slump in the middle. It is one of my favorites to read each month and they are really taking the characters to the next level. Its a great thing for the Buffyverse and for comics in general. And even other canceled shows have taken this cue and brought the continuing seasons in comic form. Once again Joss is on the cutting edge. </div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;">So that's it folks, starting off the new year right with talking about one of the most influential shows of the late 90s. It started a whole new trend of funny/dramatic/scary teen shows that still continues today *cough*Vampire Diaries*cough*. And even though I like the Twilight series, I know that Buffy could and would totally kick all of their asses. </div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;">BUFFY FTW!!!</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div><br /></div>bigfunnygayhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16417067120898853897noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7818230865290985648.post-1845850401332143212009-10-26T20:11:00.000-07:002009-10-26T20:14:08.221-07:00RandomnessOne of my favorite moments, from one of my favorite shows. To me they look a little British, like 70s Liverpool British. Also if they have earbuds in their ears that is a good sign too. Most people going to see Where the Wild Things Are will be Hipster. Also I think that maybe Gordon Levit Lewis might be their king. Apparently they love the word "deck" which means cool or fresh, if you live in the 80s and worship the fresh prince. Gays, this would be like how we slash words, terrific becomes terif, totally becomes totes. OH PS. Fierce is GONE, stop using it....thanks Tyra. </span></span></i></span></span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;">But know that Hipsters are not EMO. THANK GOD. They are much better in mood and fashion sense, I mean they look a little like vagabonds, but at least they aren't in black all the time, with eyeliner, ugh. They are also very green and love soy. They are the people that would create their own composte, and only eat organic. </div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;">They hate corporate america, and bands that sell out, aka. Green Day, they really hate them. Much like in the 90s when grunge was rampant they also hated the selling out to corporate greed. They believe that bands should love the music, and not want to be thrown into popular culture, which I never understand. </div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;">They shop in thrift stores, again with the whole against popular culture. I think that some also shop at Hot Topic...but don't tell them I said so. </div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;">Hipsters are here, well for now at least. And I for one welcome them! Maybe one day, there will be a great battle between them and Emos. One can only hope. </div><br /></div>bigfunnygayhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16417067120898853897noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7818230865290985648.post-54527537829348590762009-10-14T21:43:00.000-07:002009-10-15T10:54:59.951-07:00Review: Where the Wild Things Are<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://cdn.videogum.com/img/thumbnails/photos/where_the_wild_things_are_poster.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 450px; height: 656px;" src="http://cdn.videogum.com/img/thumbnails/photos/where_the_wild_things_are_poster.jpg" border="0" alt="" /></a><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:small;"><br /></span><span class="Apple-style-span" style=" white-space: pre-wrap; font-family:'lucida grande', tahoma, verdana, arial, sans-serif;"><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:small;">Rating: 3 out of 5 </span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:small;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:small;">As movies go this one is definitely a cut above the rest. The writing and cinematography are some of the best I've seen this year. And the special effects mixed with puppetry gives me the same emotions as I had when I was a child watching anything Jim Henson. You stare at wonderment at these Wild Things. They feel so real that you want to meet them and romp around with them just like Max. </span></div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:small;"> </span></span><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style=" white-space: pre-wrap; font-family:'lucida grande', tahoma, verdana, arial, sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:small;">There were many things in the movie that would make me sit and stare, unable to blink because of the beauty. Especially the parts when it is a desert landscape with the sun either rising or setting. Speaking of the setting, Spike Jones has crafted something that most directors couldn't dream of doing. It's the feeling of childlike wonder and also comfortability in the setting. </span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:'lucida grande', tahoma, verdana, arial, sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style=" white-space: pre-wrap;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:small;"><br /></span></span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style=" white-space: pre-wrap; font-family:'lucida grande', tahoma, verdana, arial, sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:small;">This is the central theme in the movie. You can almost feel like you have your childlike imagination back. When you were a kid the small woods by your house was a deep forest to you, a rock pile was a mountain. Spike Jones takes you back to that same feeling because you are looking through Max's eyes. You can literary see his imagination in play. When that hits you at certain points you can't help but smile. You feel like a kid again. </span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:'lucida grande', tahoma, verdana, arial, sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style=" white-space: pre-wrap;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:small;"><br /></span></span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style=" white-space: pre-wrap; font-family:'lucida grande', tahoma, verdana, arial, sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:small;">The writing is spectacular. It doesn't dumb things down to a childlike level. It feels like a real child talking when Max speaks. There is a part when he first meets the Wild Things and he begins to tell tall tales about himself. I've heard kids do this. I taught preschool for a time and kids come up with the craziest stories, all to impress you. Max does the same. The Wild Things are childlike too, but also adult. I didn't understand this as much. Sometimes they talk to Max on his level, sometimes above, and sometimes below. It doesn't seem as fleshed out. </span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:'lucida grande', tahoma, verdana, arial, sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style=" white-space: pre-wrap;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:small;"><br /></span></span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style=" white-space: pre-wrap; font-family:'lucida grande', tahoma, verdana, arial, sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:small;">Now I bet your saying, why do you say all of these great things and give it three stars. Because I didn't leave going "This is one of the best movies I've seen." For me, PERSONALLY, I didn't fully get it. It was funny at times, sad at times, but never really picked what it was about. It was too random maybe for my tastes. Even though when you meet KW's friends, that was my kind of random! The movie in it's entirety didn't gel for me. I also had this feeling that I was missing something. Like I wasn't getting small things that would make sense of it all. Again though as a movie it is very good. I didn't walk out going "GOD IT SUCKED!". I walked out not understanding the full meaning. </span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:'lucida grande', tahoma, verdana, arial, sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style=" white-space: pre-wrap;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:small;"><br /></span></span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style=" white-space: pre-wrap; font-family:'lucida grande', tahoma, verdana, arial, sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:small;">Also, I hated Max. I'm not a big fan of kids in general, especially the older than 8 range. So I found Max as a character annoying and selfish. The actor though was great, his timing and emotional portrayal was incredible. I think he played him exactly like Max was written. The problem however, I was never in Max's corner. He was a brat who was acting out because his Mom wouldn't play with him ALL THE TIME. And I didn't find the Mom to be that horrible. She was stressed and trying to do the single mom thing. Did she mess up, yes. The whole boyfriend thing was proof of that. But she was never horrible to Max, even when he destroys a room. I understood the whole "escape to the Wild Things", but it was hard to really get invested when I didn't like the main character. </span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:'lucida grande', tahoma, verdana, arial, sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style=" white-space: pre-wrap;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:small;"><br /></span></span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style=" white-space: pre-wrap; font-family:'lucida grande', tahoma, verdana, arial, sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:small;">Now I say this in closing, if you liked the books you will like this movie. I sat by my best friend and she LOVED it. She got the thing that I did not. So this can be fully enjoyed by someone, I saw the proof. I have never read the book, so I think that had something to do with the whole not fully understanding the movie. The very last thing I will say is that I loved KW...alot. She was the best thing about the movie for me, cause she was the most well rounded of all the characters. I say see the movie and give it a try, you may like it alot, or like me, just a little. </span></span></div>bigfunnygayhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16417067120898853897noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7818230865290985648.post-2300634176792431222009-10-12T21:00:00.000-07:002009-10-12T21:23:48.066-07:00Geek Post: ROCKTOBER 13!!So tomorrow is a big day in the world of video games. Two games, that could be very huge this holiday season release tomorrow. Uncharted 2: Among Thieves and Brutal Legend. I know that Uncharted 2 will help Sony, with moving consoles this holiday season. The early review scores alone show that this is now a franchise that now can step up against Grand Theft Auto and Microsoft's golden child HALO. In fact I would call Uncharted Sony's Halo and Nathan Drake their Master Chief. So seeing how Sony has been drug through the dirt the past couple of years with the PS3, I hope that they can grab some more ground this holiday season and become a real competitor in the games market. <div><br /></div><div>But this post isn't really all about the sales market of video games it's about how anyone listening should run out tomorrow whenever you can, get 60 dollars, and buy Brutal Legend. I hear you saying "But you haven't even played it yet!!" I know I haven't but I don't have to play it, to know that it will be awesome. </div><div><br /></div><div>One name lets me know that this game will deliver and is worth my money. Tim Schafer. If you've never played a Tim Schafer game, please do so. I never got to play his LucasArts games back in the 90s, because we never owned a PC till 2000. I hear however that they were the best of that generation when it came to adventure gaming. </div><div><br /></div><div>What I did get to play was Psychonauts. One of the best games of the last generating in the Action/Adventure category. I'm talking better than Mario people. In fact I will be so bold to say that Mario Galaxy was not the first to do what it did Platform wise. Psychonauts was. Mario Galaxy just did it better. This game was so clever, so original, that you can't not give it the acclaim that it deserves. </div><div><br /></div><div>I'm not going to list why it deserves awards of all kinds, because I want you to play it and see, but I will write this. The premise is that you are a boy at a summer camps for psychics of all kinds. And levels in this game are the inside of people's minds. Which you get to buy putting a little door on their heads. If that doesn't excite you let me say this there are evil girl scouts, a whole level devoted to the shagadelic 60s, and a crazy funny man who is a genius and his personality changes when he has different clothes on. OH, and you get to light things on fire with your MIND! </div><div><br /></div><div>This game is amazing, and the one downside is the technology in graphics at the time could not show emotions on faces like today. That's a downside! It was too ambitious for the technology. </div><div><br /></div><div>But whats sets it apart leaps and bounds from other games is the writing. Tim Schafer's writing is witty, and just plain makes you chuckle. You have a smile on your face pretty much 90% of the time because the characters are so expressive. Sometimes I felt like I was watching a great Cartoon Network show than playing a video game. </div><div><br /></div><div>Get this game! It is on Xbox Live as a download. You can also get it at Gamestop for the original Xbox and PS2 if you have those.</div><div><br /></div><div>So that is the reason why I don't worry that Brutal Legend will blow me away. Tim Schafer is one of the best video game developers in the business. He would not let me down. </div><div><br /></div><div>ALSO, I played the demo, it rocks! Try it....NOW! </div>bigfunnygayhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16417067120898853897noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7818230865290985648.post-52672712112835839112009-10-08T19:40:00.000-07:002009-10-08T19:43:10.366-07:00Geek Post: Random Comicness<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v463/richlovatt/nickfuryiswatching.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 579px; height: 508px;" src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v463/richlovatt/nickfuryiswatching.jpg" border="0" alt="" /></a><div>This might be the best cell of a comic I have seen in a LONG TIME. I'm sad that Disney has so much control over the franchise. It hasn't seemed to help. The Muppets seem to be relegated to bad specials on the Disney Channel and ABC. I don't mean a person I mean a team of men. Now we are all on the same page I see. I'm really beginning to love watching Soccer, Football in Europe, or The Beautiful Game. Whatever you call it, I'm in. I think I like it the most because I'm not bombarded with it, here in America. No one really likes Soccer, so it's under the radar, and that's where I like to be when it comes to sports. I mean I don't hate American Football, but boy am I sick of it. Living in Pittsburgh, which is called Steeler Country, football is everywhere 24/7. If I loved football, I wouldn't probably mind. Seeing though that me and football are just casual friends, it's not quite like that. With watching and getting into soccer, I feel like it's mine, and I don't have to argue with the other males of my family about it.</span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">Anyways, I love to watch English Premier League. Living in Pittsburgh we don't have our own soccer team for the Major League Soccer in America, so I don't have a home team to root for and go to support. If I lived in LA I'm sure I'd go to LA Galaxy games. So I watch what I can on cable.</span><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">My favorite team is Chelsea, they don't suck and they wear blue, that was all I had to go with. But I just had a instant attraction to that team, don't know why, I'll just call it fate. But here below are some other reasons.</span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><br /></span></div><div><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjSMJHzdXoCo27_UJkqqiQoHoNxbusiGEUzeNdaLdkw_XcW9Mp1FFM04WXlThj4vxKdxYoZn2ugxIRXVYQFd-is4NQ2OaITNQApFJ_p1LDag16sk5IhgcaGn_371fKDEeIPld01nnKzfLk/s400/deco.elmundo.ap.jpg" style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" border="0" alt="" /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">Deco, Brazilian...hot</span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><br /></span></div></div><img src="http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj22/thisisextratime3/1-jt002.jpg" style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 385px; height: 512px;" border="0" alt="" /><div style="text-align: center;"></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">John Terry...DILF</span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><br /></span></div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2008/12/18/article-1097851-00742511000004B0-396_306x423.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 306px; height: 423px;" src="http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2008/12/18/article-1097851-00742511000004B0-396_306x423.jpg" border="0" alt="" /></a><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">Frank Lampard</span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><br /></span></div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://i658.photobucket.com/albums/uu304/giovanna_br/ballack1.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 486px; height: 683px;" src="http://i658.photobucket.com/albums/uu304/giovanna_br/ballack1.jpg" border="0" alt="" /></a><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">And my personal fav, Michael Ballack. I love the fall/winter season, well until February, then I'm right sick of it. But to me the best parts of the year come at winter. Thanksgiving, Christmas, the biggest video game releases of the year, and some of the best movies come out too. This year's winter releases make me a little happier than the past because this year we will not be riddled with sequels. I mean I like a sequel just as much as any other person, but I like the idea of original titles a little more. Here is my own list of what I'm looking forward to.</span><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><br /></span></div><div><div><b><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: medium;">November</span></b></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: medium;"><b><br /></b></span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LVK-hVGqCpo">The Box </a> releases the 6th. A couple with money problems is given a box with a red button. If they push the button someone will die, but they will also get a million dollars. The trailer looks interesting, and it has a feel to it that makes it stand out from most of the other cookie cutter movies that are jammed down our throats. </span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KYBF3HKzrmE">New Moon</a> releases the 20th. The sequel to the billion selling book Twilight. Now I'm a Twilight fan and admit it with no shame. And I'm biased to the point that if this movie sucks, I probably won't even notice. </span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O8N-kIiELUA">The Princess and the Frog</a> releases the 25th. It's Disney returning to what made us all love it in the first place. New princess, new songs, and even lovable animals that act like humans! I'm really excited to sit in a theater and feel like a kid again. </span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><br /></span></div><div><b><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: medium;">December</span></b></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ikUWKi0W5_g">The Lovely Bones</a> releases the 11th. This movie adaptation of the book of the same name looks interesting. It has an exceptional cast, but also looks like a downer at the same time. I mean I don't know how a story about a girl being raped and killed can really spin into something thats not sad. </span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d1_JBMrrYw8">AVATAR</a> releases the 18th. This movie looks gorgeous, but will it be any good? I don't know, I feel like this could be the new Matrix, or be something that feels like it should be on Syfy. </span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qE2CItUaAcA">It's Complicated</a> releases the 25th. Meryl Streep, Steve Martin, and Alec Baldwin in a comedy TOGETHER! Need I say more! </span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QUQbmFAE5WI">Sherlock Holmes</a> releases the 25th. I feel that this will be Robert Downey's other Iron Man of this year. It has steam punk, Jude Law, and Rachel McAdams. Its gonna be good and we are all going to see it, I have no doubt. </span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">Once 2010 hits there will be a lul in movies again until the blockbusters of summer, but there are a few things to look forward to when there's lots of snow on the ground.</span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">February has <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HYVrHkYoY80">Shutter Island</a> and what I'm looking forward to so I can get through that dreaded day, <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jSS-QPdiiiY">Valentine's Day</a>. (PS. in V-day Bradley Cooper and McSteamy play a gay couple, wet dreams can come true!)</span></div></div>bigfunnygayhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16417067120898853897noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7818230865290985648.post-54812835086521048132009-10-03T22:23:00.000-07:002009-10-03T22:25:01.537-07:00KILL BILL....3!!!!<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">So apparently Kill Bill 3 is going to be made. (I'm looking at you Gail Simone, and thanks for it btw) But we never have really gotten a true comic aimed at women, to look at women's issues, from a woman's perspective. You may argue that Wonder Woman has done that, but really Wonder Woman was mostly a man in ladies clothing sometimes. Even though AGAIN, Gail Simone took the reins of the relaunch and tried to accomplish something with it. But I have been reading a comic that even though it does not hit it out of the ball park, it does do something that most other comics cannot.</span><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><br /></span><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><img src="http://delightfuldistraction.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/04/marveldivas.jpg" style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 460px;" border="0" alt="" /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">Yes, I'm talking about Marvel Divas. Now like I said this isn't the best comic to come around in ages. I'm sure there are plenty of independent comic publishers that have released books that deal with these issues better than Marvel Divas. </span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">But this is Marvel, the home of beefed up superheroes like Thor and Captain America, and big boobed wonders like She-Hulk and Emma Frost (who's tits have gotten blown up to ridiculous proportions from the 70s). So for this to be made by them, it might be a step in the right direction. </span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:small;"><div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small; ">The writing in Divas is a little childish and there is a feeling the concept was "let's rip off Sex and the City". But I can get around that because I feel like these writers are new and still trying to find there voice. I mean writing a short series about a group of women and trying to sell it to comic book readers, who are mostly straight males, is a hard thing to do. Especially when most other books use women as a place to put boobs. But I have to give props to the writer, Roberto Aquirre-Sacasa. Now I do think that maybe a woman would have done a little better fleshing out and making the characters more unique and not so clique, but that might be sexist of me. </span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">I think that Mr. Aquirre-Sacasa however did do something very notable in his series. He dealt with breast cancer. One of the Divas Angelica Jones, finds out that her mutant powers are causing cancer cells to grow in her breasts. Now I have not read the final issue of this four issue arc, but I really think this past issue (#3) is where the series really shined. </span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">We are seeing and watching Angelica deal with the cancer. Now again this is not classic literature, but I liked how he made Miss Jones human. Now she is not a billboard character for Marvel. The biggest thing about her was that she was on a TV show in the 80s with Spiderman and Iceman. So the writer could do whatever he wanted to her. He deals with the breast cancer issue with dignity and grace. Not making it overly dramatic or making a joke out of it. It's written so that you just see what happens, without judgement.</span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">What I'm really saying is read this series. It's not the best thing since The League of Gentleman, but it's way better than half of the other titles out there. Its worth a read and the 16 dollars for the four issues. </span></div></div></span><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:small;"><br /></span></div></div></div>bigfunnygayhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16417067120898853897noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7818230865290985648.post-17517882362558820562009-10-01T18:55:00.000-07:002009-10-01T19:05:04.100-07:00Glee makes me Glee<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">Ok so first, Kristen Chenoweth in anything is pretty much amazing. But Kristen in Glee, which by itself may be the best show I've watched since I set eyes on the first episode of Will and Grace, is like God coming down from the mountain and telling us what the meaning of life is. Well maybe not JUST like that but really, really close. </span><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">For those that don't know Miss Chenoweth is a very devout Christian and was suppose to be an Opera singer. There are rumors that she is hard to work with and a bit of a bitch. I hope that these are not true, because I like to think that the Divas that I adore are actually nice people in real life. </span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">Watch the video below and you'll see what I mean.
